★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★
Skills:
Manual Labor:
Weapons Specialist:
NOT COOKING...But Eating: He's not much of a cook, but he can eat literally anything and everything. Except for chocolate :'(
Canon Abilities:
Temporary/Conditional Immortality: Since he is technically already dead and in the process of being reincarnated, he is conditionally "immortal" in that he can't die permanently. Like other vessels, if he dies, his soul becomes more unrecognizable and he loses more of his original self. His soul reawakens but each time he dies, he struggles more and more with confusion/sense of self. Worst case scenario is his soul brings him back as some wolfish monster...But thankfully that's a long way away since he hasn't died yet while a vessel!
He is MUCH more durable in a vessel's body and can withstand far more than any normal human being could...But he's also still completely vulnerable to every normal way of death. It would just take a bit more effort. And then he'd come back once his soul rebuilt itself. Once he is killed, his body remains physical for a few minutes before it basically just turns into flowers or some shit, and then he has to go through a 48-hour cycle before he reforms.
Transformative Soul: The physical appearance of his body is technically the "vessel" and he can change it at will between a husky, a human, or a hybrid of the two. That can be something like a wolfman or a dude with husky ears and tail. He can only transform into a husky or with features of a husky.
Soul Split: He is capable of splitting his human soul from his husky soul temporarily. This will allow the husky form (who he calls Holiday) to manifest independently. The two do share some brain cells and can experience each other's worlds at the same time. This can give him a wider perspective of a situation. His soul split can only go a few miles away from him. There is no limitation on how long they can be apart, but both feel better when they are together.
Arctic Stamina: He has incredible stamina being a blend of an athletic human and a husky. He has also been granted enhanced stamina via his whole power-up shit. He can withstand extremely cold weather and can run for extensive, long periods of time. He isn't incredibly fast, but he can run at the pace of a husky for as long. Emphasized with increased strength and durability and high pain tolerance. He can go long periods without food or sleep. However, the moment he has finished with a quest and the adrenaline runs off, he will crash for hours and need enormous amounts of sleep and food to "recover."
Heightened/Lowered Senses: Has an incredible sense of smell. Can trace a trail of scent that is several weeks old even after rain/snow has gone over it. Has a sturdy sense of taste, indifferent to flavors most of the time. Good sense of hearing. He has poor sight and is generally near-sighted. Needs to be at least about 20 feet near to something before he can clearly make it out. Probably should wear glasses but fuck that.
Howl: A long-distance howl that can cut through wind/weather and alert those he's trying to reach of his exact coordination. In return, he will be able to detect where they are if they howl back: even if they don't have a loud/projected howl, they can use it as a sounding board that he will pick up on. He can also communicate with other animals with howls, and summon them for temporary fights or guidance over terrain.
Pack Mentality: If he is in a setting of two or more people where he feels cohesive with the others or has positive emotions towards them, his strength, durability, and fight intensity will drastically increase as a desire to keep them safe. This can be applied to those
Escape Artist: He does become easily stir-crazy if he isn't properly physically stimulated. This can cause him to be incredibly destructive to his surroundings. He will definitely break out of a location if he's forcibly kept there and more out of anxiety. This does give him extreme claustrophobia. He despises enclosed spaces and feelings of being trapped. He can easily assess a way to get out of just about any situation.
Howling Screech: Huskies are extremely vocal and so is Ronan! When he gets excited or emotional. Sometimes this can escalate until he's howling like an obnoxious husky. His sound waves can cause disorientation in those nearby.
STAGES OF THE DOG: All Vessels can tap into three variations of their animal soul that amplifies them into a different mind state and gifts them some different, temporary abilities while in that stage.
Lap Dog: Comfort.
Good Dog: Praise.
Feral Dog: Rabid.
Role: Legend
Role Qualities/Attributes: Some furry wings and a halo!
Role Reasoning: Ronan may be abrasive and aggressive at times, but he has an absolute heart of gold. He is the kind of guy who has never had ill intent in life - both in his original life or his new life. He doesn't even like the idea of having to hurt others and he doesn't believe in the idea of "people deserve to be hurt who have done wrong" - even though he IS a good fighter...He will never pick a fight with someone who isn't fighting back, who hasn't done anything wrong, or who seems afraid or vulnerable in some way. He does enjoy fights - just with people who seem to be as mutually invested and capable. He's protective of people, even those he does not know, and has a deep sense of loyalty. He carries a lot of the goodness and loyalty we see in dogs and...let's be real. Dogs are fuckin' legends, not familiars.

What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?
Being killed in his first life by his own father. While Ronan doesn't necessarily "remember" it (currently), his death has drastically impacted his new life as a vessel. All old lives carry over in some way, and for Ronan, the way he was beaten to death has severely impacted his memories and capacity to think coherently. Not every vessel has lasting impacts from their death as not all vessels die traumatic deaths, but for Ronan, his death was part of the ongoing trauma of severe abuse at the hands of his father.
That abuse has similarly impacted Ronan and he does remember some of it. At times, Ronan can be jumpy around those who move too abruptly or raise a hand unexpectedly. Although Ronan himself is big and incredibly capable of defending himself, the scars of abuse are hard to shake. Growing up severely abused and then dying from the abuse resulted in Ronan being born anew with a deeply compassionate soul. He feels incredibly protective of those who seem vulnerable in some way. He does not believe in bringing harm to others if he can help it - even if they maybe deserve it. He doesn't want to scare people and he doesn't want to intimidate them either.
Ironically, despite his trauma, Ronan does not suffer from any trust issues. If anything, he is still too trusting. It may be the optimism of a dog, but Ronan tends to hope for the best in people and generally believes they are good until proven otherwise. Ronan isn't easily convinced that someone is "evil" or "bad" and tends to prefer to see the good in others even if they aren't wholly good. He could be easily swayed to befriend a terrible person especially if that person never treats him or others badly. He's nonjudgmental of the choices people make, often citing his simple thinking for feeling as though he's in no place to insert his opinions on other people's choices.
What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?
His father resented his only child and son for not being what he had hoped for in a son. Despite Ronan's roughness and capability of helping around in the frigid Russian wilderness, his father always saw Ronan as inherently too "soft" and too delicate-tempered. He despised his son's softness and equated it to weakness. He would often belittle and demean his son, insulting his intelligence, insulting his kindness, and tried to regularly get him to become a more "tough" version of himself through regular beatings and other violent/degrading treatment. Regardless of that treatment, Ronan never "hated" his father in any real way. He always just distantly longed to make his father proud and happy. When his father realized his son was gay on top of everything else, it proved to be too much for the man and so he killed his own son. Ronan has zero memory of this part of his life.
Ronan was close with his mother who embraced Ronan's gentle attitude and was viciously proud of her son. He has more memories of his mother, but most of them are incredibly basic and don't provide much insight as to the kind of woman she was. His mother wound up dying shortly after Ronan, heartbroken at her son's death to the point of ending her own life. Ronan is unaware of this.
Ronan's love interest is another vessel that shares a soul with a rabbit. This vessel is (currently) named JoJo. Ronan was instantly attracted to JoJo upon meeting him, but incredibly shy since it was the first guy he really had a distinct crush on. When JoJo and him were pitted against each other in a training fight, Ronan refused to make the first move, but JoJo can't fight unless he is attacked first. So the two waited three days, both incredibly stubborn, in the rink, staring each other down until finally Ronan's Escape Artist tendency got the better of him. The two are incredibly well-matched in a fight and JoJo ultimately won. Ronan respects JoJo deeply. JoJo is one of the few people who treats Ronan kindly and is patient with his confusion and memory issues.
Ronan's best friend is Salem, another vessel that shares a soul with a goat. Salem is an incredibly blunt, intelligent individual who has little emotional sensitivity. However, Salem sees through Ronan's faults and realizes that he's an incredible person. Salem admires Ronan and encourages him to be more like himself even if others might not understand it. Salem was the first person to express earnest belief in Ronan and wanted to team up with him to go on their Epoch together. Salem can be a bit impatient with Ronan at times, but they have a strong relationship.
What does your character feel like they struggle with still? Where could they improve? This could be physically, mentally, emotionally, or otherwise.
Is your character capable of forgiveness or will they hold a grudge until they die? Would anything ever make them change their mind?
What would your character sacrifice to get what they want or to reach their potential? What have they sacrificed already?
